Grab a quick pizza slice to keep in your pocket while you walk. Trolio Pica is open late, so you can grab a bite before heading north.
15:27
Walk 5 km north to the 9th Fort Museum. The fortress walls are stark against the sky. Arrive just as the sun begins to dip, casting long shadows across the historic grounds. The museum is open until 17:00, so you have plenty of time to explore the exhibits before the final light fades.
16:27
Stand at the edge of the fort grounds. The sun sets toward the SW, painting the grey concrete and earthworks in deep orange and purple hues. This is the moment the site feels most solemn and beautiful. Let the silence of the place settle in as the light disappears.
17:12
Walk south to Bernelių Užeiga. The drive or transit back south takes some time, but once you arrive, settle into this Lithuanian restaurant. It is open until 22:00, so you can enjoy a hot, traditional meal in the comfort of the evening. The transition from the cold fort to a warm table is the perfect end to the day.
Local tip
The walk from the fort to the food spots is long (5 km). Use a taxi or public transport to head south after your visit. Check local routes for the best connection from the 9th Fort to the southern districts.
