Hike up to Kamniško sedlo. Start from Dom v Kamniški Bistrici and climb the 600 meters. Arrive before the sun crests the horizon to catch the first light on the valley below and the distant Austrian border.

Watch the sunrise. The sun rises toward the East, illuminating the green Logarska dolina valley to the north and the southern slopes. Stay for the golden light that follows.

Begin the descent. The light is now soft and even. Check the route down to Kamniška Bistrica valley.
Local tip
This is a serious hike. Allow 3 hours 30 minutes each way. Start early enough to reach the saddle with time to spare. The views are best in the clear morning air.
Check before you go
- Check the weather forecast for visibility.
- Wear sturdy hiking boots and bring layers; it is colder at the saddle than in the valley.
- Carry water and snacks as there are no shops at the summit.
