Stop for Soto Tangkar Bang Edi, a warm Betawi beef soup. It is a comforting way to start the evening before the crowds arrive.

Walk to Monas Park. This large square sits right at the base of the National Monument. Find a spot on the grass or benches facing west. The park is open and accessible, offering an unobstructed view of the sky.
18:15
Watch the sunset. The sun sets toward the WSW, casting a final golden glow over the square and the monument's flame. This is the peak moment of the experience.
18:45
End the evening with a sweet cool down at Es Selendang Mayang Nicholas. This Betawi cold drink made from mixed rice and palm flour jelly with sweet coconut milk is the perfect refreshment after the heat of the day.
Local tip
The Gold room in the National Museum closes one hour before the museum closes. If you plan to visit the museum interior, go earlier in the day. For this sunset plan, the park outside is the best vantage point.
