Timeline
16:10
Start with a coffee or light snack at The Tattoo Cafe. It is just a four-minute walk from the observatory and opens early enough to get you settled before the crowds arrive.
16:40
Walk the nine minutes to Jantar Mantar. Enter the site and find a spot among the fourteen major geometric devices. The signage explains how these instruments track the stars and measure time, but the real show is the sky above them.
17:20
Stand by one of the large yantras and watch the golden light wash over the stone structures. As the sun sets toward the WSW, the shadows lengthen across the instruments, creating a dramatic interplay of light and geometry.
17:50
End your evening with dinner at LMB. It is a nine-minute walk from the observatory and stays open until 23:00. Order their famous Aloo ki Tikiya or Paneer Ghewar to cap off the night.
Local tip
The observatory is open from 09:00 to 17:00, but you can stay inside during the golden hour as it is a UNESCO world heritage site. The walk between the cafe and the observatory is short and straightforward.
