Timeline
08:00
Arrive at the Fatih Mosque grounds. The complex is large and historic, built by Sultan Mehmet II on the site of the former Church of the Holy Apostles. Walk through the quiet morning atmosphere to see the grand architecture that has survived centuries of earthquakes and fires.
08:30
Walk to Vefa Bozacı, established in 1876. Order boza, a fermented bulgur wheat drink with a sweetish tart taste that was a favorite of the Ottomans. It is less than 1% alcohol and pairs perfectly with the morning air.
09:00
Stroll to Hanegah, a nearby café just minutes away. Sit down for a coffee or a light snack to digest the boza and enjoy the local vibe before heading back out into the city.
Local tip
Vefa Bozacı and Hanegah are both open early, making them ideal for a morning start. The walk between the mosque and these spots is short, keeping the experience relaxed and centered around the Fatih area.
