Timeline
08:00
Grab Ipoh’s legendary white coffee and a fresh egg tart at Nam Heong Coffee Shop. This is the original home of the drink, and the tarts come straight from the oven. It is a busy local spot, so expect a short wait for a table, but the fuel is worth it.
08:30
Walk just three minutes to Restoran Kong Heng for your main snack. Order the Ipoh kai see hor fun (flat rice noodles with chicken) and a popiah (fresh spring roll) made to order. The kitchen is open until 16:30, but the morning queue is the best time to enjoy the food before it gets crowded.
09:00
Stroll 22 minutes northeast to Paper plane. This public art piece sits on a building facade and is a great photo stop. The walk takes you through the historic district, giving you a feel for the architecture before you reach the art.
09:30
Continue another 24 minutes northeast to Hummingbird. This second public art installation is close enough to Paper plane to be done in the same loop. It is a quiet moment to appreciate the detail of the sculpture against the city backdrop.
10:00
End your walk at People's Park. Located just 24 minutes from the Hummingbird spot, this park offers a green space to sit and digest your meal. It is a calm place to reflect on the morning’s sights before heading back.
