Ingolstadt Daytime: Markets and Slides

A relaxed morning walk through Ingolstadt’s markets and historic fortress, ending with a traditional Bavarian lunch.

Best time: noneAbout 180 min

Timeline

  1. 09:00

    Wochemarkt

Start at Wochemarkt to browse fresh local produce. The market is open on Wednesdays and Saturdays from 08:00 to 13:00, so arriving at 09:00 gives you the best selection before the rush.

  2. 09:45

    Würstelstube

Walk to Würstelstube for a classic Bavarian sausage snack. Marianne serves some of the best in the region, and the interior features a unique picture of a monkey in traditional costume.

  3. 10:30

    Reduit Tilly and Klenzepark

Head south of the inner city to Reduit Tilly and Klenzepark. This is the core of the classical fortress, where you can explore the World War I exhibition and enjoy the grounds near the Danube.

  4. 11:30

    Schanzer Rutschn

End the day at Schanzer Rutschn for a traditional Bavarian meal. The restaurant is in the basement, accessible by stairs or the wooden slide that gives it its name. Note that it closes when the last guest leaves.
