Timeline
11:30
Grab a coffee and a pastry at the Gipfelstube. This is the highest restaurant in the area at 2,248 m, and it opens at 10:00. Arriving early ensures you get a table with a clear view over the Stubaital and Inntal before the midday rush.
12:30
Walk down the short path to the Alpengarten Patscherkofel. This alpine garden at 2,000 m is cared for by the University of Innsbruck and features rare plants. The 12-minute walk from the summit area is gentle and offers changing views of the valley below.
14:00
End your visit with a proper lunch at the Patscherkofel Schutzhaus. The terrace offers a decent view of the mountain, and the kitchen serves hearty Tyrolean food. It is a reliable spot for hikers and skiers to refuel after exploring the heights.
Local tip
The Schutzhaus is fairly steep priced, but it is one of the few options for a full meal directly on the summit area. If you prefer a quicker bite, the Das Kofel restaurant nearby offers fast food and free wifi.
