Timeline
15:43
Stop at Ravenwood Meadery for a honey mead. It is just a minute’s walk from Theatre Huntsville, so you can grab a glass and head up the mountain while the light is still good.
16:28
Walk up to Burritt on the Mountain. The grounds offer open views toward the west. By this time, the golden light is hitting the trees and the early 20th-century mansion, setting the scene for the sunset.
16:58
Watch the sun sink toward the WSW. The sky turns deep orange and purple over the mountains. Stay for the last few minutes of light as the sky shifts to twilight.
17:13
Take a slow walk through the nature trails on the mountain as it gets dark. The paths are quiet, and the air is cool. It is a peaceful way to let the moment settle before heading back down.
Local tip
The meadery is small, so go early to avoid a queue. The mountain roads can be steep and winding, so drive carefully in the fading light.
