Walk 30 minutes from the Visitor Center area to Gulpha Gorge Hot Springs National Park. This is the closest viewing spot to the main action, positioned WNW of the anchor with a clear view toward the WSW sunset.

Gulpha Gorge Hot Springs National Park
Find a spot near the gorge and watch the sun drop toward the WSW. The golden light begins about 37 minutes before this, so you will have plenty of time to settle in and enjoy the view.

Head back down to the historic district. End your night at the Ohio Club, the oldest bar in Arkansas. It is just a short walk from the Visitor Center area where you started.
Local tip
The walk from Maxine's to Gulpha Gorge is a steady climb. Bring a light jacket as the temperature drops quickly after sunset in the mountains.
