Timeline
17:00
Grab a traditional dim sum snack and tea. Luk Yu Tea House is the oldest restaurant in Hong Kong, established in 1933. Order early to secure a seat before the evening rush.
17:30
Walk to the Hong Kong Maritime Museum. The museum is located right next door to the Star Ferry Pier Central. Use the time to browse the interactive screens and ship models while the sky is still bright.
18:00
Find a spot near the windows or the pier-side view. The sun sets toward the WSW, offering a direct view of the sunset over the water as the golden light fades.
18:30
End the evening with a hearty meal. Head to Yung Kee Restaurant for their famous Cantonese-style roast goose. Note that they can run out of geese, so arriving before the main dinner crowd is wise.
Local tip
The museum is open until 17:30 on weekdays and 19:00 on weekends. On this date, sunset is at 18:00, so you can stay inside until the very last moment of daylight if you visit on a weekend. On weekdays, you may need to step out to the pier area for the best sunset view after closing.
