    Royal Tasmanian Botanical Gardens

Arrive at the Royal Tasmanian Botanical Gardens as they open. The 8AM start is ideal for a quiet stroll through the 6,500 species before the day’s visitors arrive. Take your time exploring the Subantarctic Plant House, a climate-controlled sanctuary for rare species from Macquarie Island.

    Jackman & McRoss

Head down to Battery Point for a proper breakfast. Jackman & McRoss is a Hobart institution known for its fantastic bakery treats. Grab a table inside for a relaxed meal, keeping in mind that the eat-in price list differs from takeaway.

    Hobart Bookshop

Walk two minutes to Hobart Bookshop. This small, cosy store is nearly overflowing with books, including a dedicated Tasmanian section. It is a perfect spot to browse for educational titles or local history before your walk back.
