    The Lark Distillery

Start with a tasting at The Lark Distillery. As Tasmania’s first licensed distillery since 1839, it is a perfect prelude to the evening. The bar is open until evening, so you have plenty of time to sample their single malt whiskey and liqueurs before the sun goes down.

  2. 17:08

    Franklin Square

Walk to Franklin Square. This oak-lined public space sits on the Macquarie Street ridge between the CBD and Sullivans Cove. Arrive with half an hour to spare to find a quiet spot on the grass or near the statue of Sir John Franklin. The square is open all day, so no need to worry about closing times.

  3. 17:38

    Franklin Square

Watch the sunset. On 15 April, the sun sets at 17:38, casting a WNW glow over the square. The golden light begins around 17:00, giving you the best view of the fading light filtering through the oaks and illuminating the Tennyson epitaph on the monument.

  4. 18:23

    The New Sydney Hotel

End the evening at The New Sydney Hotel. Located just a short walk from the square, this popular inner-city pub offers an authentic Irish atmosphere. On weekdays, it is open until midnight, giving you plenty of time to settle in with a drink and reflect on the day.
