Timeline
15:52
Wander the exhibits on the free first floor. It is a quiet spot to browse the history of Hiroshima's streetcars and model trains before the evening rush.
16:52
Head outside to the museum grounds or the immediate vicinity. Since there are no listed food or drink shops in the immediate context, use this time to find a nearby vending machine or convenience store for a cold drink or light snack. Check the route to the nearest shop from Chorakuji Station if you need to leave the museum grounds.
17:22
Stand in the open area near the museum. At 17:22 the sun sets toward the WSW. The golden light from 16:44 has just faded, leaving a soft, dimming sky perfect for a final look at the day.
Local tip
The museum closes at 17:00. This plan assumes you enter early enough to enjoy the free floor before closing, or that the outdoor grounds remain accessible for the sunset view. If the museum is closed, simply use the exterior grounds for the sunset viewing.
