Arrive at Kaisaniemi Park. Find a quiet spot facing southwest. The park is north-east of the Central railway station. In the daytime it is safe, but in the early morning darkness, stick to the main paths. Watch the sky brighten as the sun begins to rise.
09:34
Walk to Café Ekberg. It is one of Helsinki’s oldest institutions, founded in 1852. Order a coffee and a pastry in the renovated space. It is open from 07:30 on weekdays, so you will be there just in time to enjoy the warmth after the cold morning air.
09:49
End your morning at the Sinebrychoff Museum. This stately house, commissioned in 1842 by Nikolai Sinebrychoff, hosts old European art. The museum opens at 10:00 on Tuesdays and Fridays, which aligns perfectly with a relaxed post-coffee stroll. Explore the permanent exhibition in the house museum for free, or pay for the full collection.
Local tip
Kaisaniemi Park has a reputation for being unsafe at night, but it is perfectly fine during the day and early morning. The walk from Kaisaniemi to Café Ekberg is short, and from there to the Sinebrychoff Museum is also a manageable stroll.
