    Cafe Engel

Grab a tea and a snack at Cafe Engel. The relaxed atmosphere and courtyard make it a perfect warm-up before the cold evening air. The café is open until 22:30, so you have plenty of time.

  2. 15:34

    Uspenski Cathedral

Walk to Uspenski Cathedral. From Cafe Engel it is a short stroll through the city center. Arrive 15 minutes before the sun dips below the horizon to find a good vantage point. The cathedral is open until 16:00 in winter, so you can step inside if the light fades quickly or if you want to see the icons up close before heading back out.

  3. 15:49

    Uspenski Cathedral

Watch the sunset. The sun sets toward the SW, casting a warm glow on the 22-carat gold domes of the cathedral. This is the prime moment for the view, as the golden light highlights the classical architecture against the darkening sky.

  4. 16:09

    Strindberg

End the evening at Strindberg. Walk back towards the Esplanadi area to this historic café. It is open until 20:00 on weekdays (or 21:00 on weekends), allowing you to sit on the terrace or inside for a final drink or pastry as the city lights come on. The location offers a pleasant view of Esplanadi Park.

Local tip

The walk from Cafe Engel to the Cathedral is short and straightforward. If you prefer to stay near the Market Square area for your meal, Stockmann and Old Market Hall are also within easy walking distance, but Strindberg offers a more specific evening vibe with its terrace.
