Timeline
09:30
Start with a quiet coffee and pastry at Cafetería Abi. The walls are covered in student paintings from the San Alejandro art school, making it a perfect, calm place to wake up before heading out.
10:15
Walk to Colon Cemetery. Arriving just after 10:00 means you will have the site largely to yourself before the tour groups arrive. Spend an hour exploring the mausoleums and sculptures that make this one of the great historical cemeteries in the world.
11:00
End your walk at Cuba Libro. It is a bookstore and café where you can rest, browse unique titles, and ask for vegan options if you prefer.
Local tip
The cemetery is large and best explored on foot. Wear comfortable shoes and bring water, as there is little shade inside the grounds.
