Best time: 18:05About 105 min

Timeline

  1. 16:50

    El Floridita Bar

Grab a daiquiri at El Floridita Bar. It is a short five-minute walk from the Capitol. The atmosphere is unchanged from pre-Castro days, though the drinks are just average. Use this time to settle in before the crowds arrive.

  2. 17:20

    National Capitol Building

Walk to the National Capitol Building. This neoclassical landmark was completed in 1929 and once housed the Cuban Congress. Stand in the plaza and look west. The sun will be low, casting long shadows and golden light across the facade as it sets toward the WSW.

  3. 18:20

    Los Marinos

Walk 17 minutes ENE to Parque Guayasamín. From there, it is a five-minute walk to Los Marinos, a seafood restaurant on a pier in the harbor. The breeze from the water is pleasant on a warm evening. Order seafood and a beer or mojito while watching the last light fade over the city.

Local tip

El Floridita is best visited early to secure a seat before the evening rush. Los Marinos is open until 23:00, giving you plenty of time to linger after the sunset.
