Timeline

  1. 17:20

    Ela & Paleta

Grab an ice cream at Ela & Paleta. It is 12 minutes from the US Embassy and open until 21:00, so you will have plenty of time before the sun goes down.

  2. 17:50

    US Embassy

Walk from the ice cream shop to the US Embassy. This is the anchor point. The building sits in Vedado just off El Malecón, facing the sea. Use the remaining time to find a good vantage point on the street or the seawall where you can see the horizon to the WSW.

  3. 18:05

    US Embassy

Watch the sunset. The sun sets at 18:05, casting golden light that begins around 17:32. The light falls toward the WSW, illuminating the fortified building and the bay.

  4. 18:35

    Café Madrigal

End the evening at Café Madrigal. It is a 4-minute walk from the anchor area into Lennon Park. The bar is open from 18:00 to 03:00 on weekdays, so it is ready for you immediately after dark.

Local tip

The walk from the embassy to Lennon Park is short, but the area is busy. Keep your ice cream secure until you reach the park. Café Madrigal is a local favorite, so it can get lively late in the evening.
