Arrive at the Vietnam Military History Museum as it opens. The new 39-hectare compound is vast, so starting early lets you explore the imposing main building and its two millennia of artifacts before the midday rush.

Local tip
The museum is closed on Mondays and Fridays. Entry is 40,000 dong, but free for under-16s, over-80s, soldiers, veterans, and military academy cadets.

- Check opening hours: Tuesday to Thursday, Saturday, and Sunday from 08:00-11:30 and 13:00-16:30. Closed Monday and Friday.
