Timeline

  1. 11:00

Hamilton Museum of Steam and Technology

Arrive at the Hamilton Museum of Steam and Technology when it opens. In the summer months, the doors open at 11 AM, so you can beat the crowds. In the colder months, it opens at noon. Inside, look for the two 14-meter-high steam engines that pumped the city's first clean water more than 140 years ago. If you are there between 11 AM and 4 PM from June to Labour Day, you might catch a daily engine demonstration.

  2. 12:00

    Leaside Park

Walk 4 minutes west-northwest to Leaside Park. It is the closest green space to the museum. Take a short stroll through the park to stretch your legs and enjoy the quiet atmosphere away from the main thoroughfares.

  3. 12:30

Hamilton Museum of Steam and Technology

Head back to the museum grounds or stay in the immediate vicinity to review the exhibits at your own pace. The architecture itself is a National Historic Site, offering a fine example of 19th-century public works design.
