Timeline
15:59
Start with a late lunch at The Ardmore Tea Room. It is a Halifax institution unchanged since 1956. Order the Newfoundland Steak or any of the cheap, classic diner fare while you watch the afternoon traffic on the waterfront.
16:14
Walk south to Point Pleasant Park. The park is open from dawn to dusk. Stroll through the preserved historic military fortifications and the Martello tower. The path leads you to the most southern point of the city's main peninsula, offering an unobstructed view toward the WSW.
16:59
Stand at the edge of the park and watch the sun set over the mouth of the harbour and into the Atlantic Ocean. The golden light around 16:13 will have already warmed the trees, but the final descent happens right here.
Local tip
The Ardmore Tea Room closes at 20:00, so you have plenty of time for dinner after the sunset. Check the route for Bus 9 if you need to return to the city center from the park.
