Start the walk from Pacific Gardens. Head to the houses at the southeast corner (no. 28-31) and climb the metal stairs to the steep path leading to the guardhouse on the fence. From there, follow the fence line to find a safe route up into the hills. Check with your guide for safe paths, as some areas like the road to Mt Kiss are restricted.

Arrive at Mount Kiss Lookout. This is the best vantage point for the sunrise. Position yourself to face the WSW to watch the sun break over the horizon.

Head back down to town. Deck Bistro opens at 06:30, which is just 16 minutes after the 06:14 sunrise. Grab a seat for a reasonable themed buffet or an East/West meal to fuel up after the climb.
Local tip
The path from Pacific Gardens to the lookout is steep and slippery. Wear sturdy shoes and ask your guide for the safest current route.

- Deck Bistro is open from 06:30. Arrive right at opening to avoid waiting if it is busy.
