Grab a drink or snack. There are no shops at the picnic area, so bring your own refreshments from Glen Innes before you arrive. Use the free gas barbecues if you brought food, or just settle in with a cold beverage.
19:39
Walk the 800 m trail to the Granite Lookout. The path is on the right hand side of the picnic area. Leave your rubbish with you as there are no bins. This short walk gives you time to find your perfect spot and let your eyes adjust to the changing light.
19:54
Watch the sunset. The sun sets toward the WSW, casting golden light starting around 19:20. Enjoy the view as the day ends.
20:24
Stay for the afterglow. The light softens after sunset, and the picnic area remains a peaceful place to reflect. When you are ready, walk back to the picnic tables.
