Timeline
09:00
Enter the Red Rock Trails through the north entrance. Start your walk along the main trail, which stretches over 12 miles. The landscape is defined by rolling prairie, grass, and sagebrush with no trees in sight. Keep an eye out for grazing cows, as grazing has been allowed again in the area.
10:00
Take a break at the trailhead or a quiet spot along the path. Since there are no food or drink shops listed in the immediate vicinity, bring your own water and snacks. Enjoy the silence of the open range and the wide, treeless horizon.
10:30
Finish your walk and head back toward the north entrance. If you have time before the heat of the day peaks, take a short drive to Northwest Park. It is located at the very top of Northwest Park by going off the path to the top of the hill, offering a final elevated view of the surrounding prairie.
Local tip
The trails allow bikes and horses, so stay alert and share the path. The north entrance is at the main address, making it the easiest access point for a morning start.
Check before you go
