Timeline

  1. 08:00

    Cap-des-Rosiers Lighthouse

Arrive at Cap-des-Rosiers Lighthouse as it opens. The site is open daily from 8AM, so you will beat the guided tour crowds and have the historic structure and rocky headland to yourself for a while. The original optical apparatus is still in place, offering a genuine step back to 1858.

  2. 09:00

Head down to the nearby waterfront for lunch. There are no food or drink shops listed in the immediate vicinity of the lighthouse, so check the route to the nearest local eateries in Gaspé for a proper meal or a snack.

  3. 10:00

    Cap-des-Rosiers Lighthouse

Return to the lighthouse grounds for a second look. By midday, the light is bright and clear, perfect for photographing the white tower against the St. Lawrence. If you missed the guided tour earlier, you can join one on your return, running every half hour from 9AM to 5PM.

  4. 11:00

End your visit by walking the perimeter of the historic site. The National Historic Site designation means the grounds are well maintained, offering quiet spots to reflect on the maritime history before heading back to town.
