Grab a bite at Churrascaria Gheller. It is a popular barbecue spot where you can pay by weight if you are not too hungry, or go all-you-can-eat. It is open late, so you have time to eat and digest before the main event.
16:55
Walk to the Iracema Statue. This is the vantage point for the sunset. The statue depicts the protagonist of the novel Iracema. From here, on the specified dates, the sun sets directly behind the Fortress of Our Lady of the Assumption.
17:25
Watch the sunset. The sun dips behind the fortress walls. The light is fading fast, so enjoy the view while it lasts.
17:55
Head to Picanha Iracema for dinner. It is a steak house that is open until 22:30, perfect for a late meal after the sunset. It is a short walk from the statue area.
Local tip
Check the sunset time for your specific visit date. The alignment only works on specific dates around October and February/March. If you are not visiting on those dates, the view from the Iracema Statue is still nice, but the sun will not set directly behind the fortress.
