Timeline
13:00
Grab a coffee and a pastry at Chalk in the park. It is just a one-minute walk from Southwood Country Park, making it the perfect quick start before heading into the greenspace.
13:15
Enter Southwood Country Park. This large area of linked greenspace offers excellent, unobstructed views of the airfield. Find a spot on the grass near the former golf course area to watch the planes fly past. The eastern part of the park, Rafborough Marshes, is further away, so stay near the main open areas for the best sightlines.
14:30
Walk to The Crab & Anchor for lunch. This gastropub is a thirteen-minute walk from the park. Order freshly prepared British grub; since it is made to order, service may be a bit slower, but the food is worth the wait.
Local tip
The airshow is held in Farnborough Airport for one week every two years. Public days are the last weekend only, although there are many locations around town to watch the displays all week. Local pubs' beer gardens, such as The Swan and The Alexandra are good places to try, as are parks such as Cove Green and Southwood Pavilion.
