Timeline
13:00
Grab a coffee and a pastry at Daisy's Cafe. It is a friendly greasy spoon that is consistently busy but moves quickly, so it is a good spot to start your afternoon with a snack before the walk begins.
13:30
Walk to King George V Playing Fields. This extensive open space is the anchor of your afternoon. You can wander the football pitches, cricket pitch, or just sit on the grass and watch the planes fly overhead near the town centre.
14:15
Queens Road Recreational Ground
Head south to Queens Road Recreational Ground. It is a short walk from the playing fields and offers a quieter patch of green space to stretch your legs and enjoy the open air.
14:45
End the walk at The Squirrel. This quiet locals' pub is close to the recreational ground and offers a beer garden and a large gin menu. It is the perfect place to settle in for a pint and reflect on the walk.
Local tip
The Swan is a famous spot for airshow viewing, but it is best for evening events. For a daytime visit, The Squirrel or Daisy's Cafe offer a more relaxed pace.
