Bubenreutheum (string instrument maker and music history museum)
Take bus 253 from the central station to Bubenreuth, Katholische Kirche, and walk to the town hall. The Bubenreutheum museum opens at 14:00 on Sundays, but group tours can be arranged at other times. Arriving early allows you to secure a private viewing of the local string instrument history before the afternoon crowds.

Stop at Bäckerei Patz, just a short walk from the museum area. Pick up a fresh pastry or bread to enjoy on the way south. Note that the bakery is open from 07:00 to 12:00 on weekdays and Saturdays, so this is the perfect time to grab a morning snack before it closes.

Walk south to the Botanical Garden. This is a pleasant spot for a stroll, especially if the weather is rainy or during the winter months. Visit the greenhouses and look for the Neischl-Grotte, an artificial stalactite cave, though be aware it is not always open.

End your walk at Amir der Kaffemann, located just minutes from the garden. As a near-fanatic coffee lover and expert, Amir roasts his own blends, making this one of the best places in Erlangen for a high-quality cup of coffee. You can also enjoy tea, smoothies, or snacks like bagels.
Local tip
The museum is located in the town hall and is initiated by a local association. Since it is not a large commercial venue, checking ahead for group tour availability is wise if you are not visiting on a Sunday afternoon.
