Timeline
18:30
Start with a pre-dinner digestif or a light bite. La Prima Dea is a refined spot just a short walk from the trailhead. Order a glass of local wine or a seasonal aperitivo to settle in before the climb.
19:00
Walk up to the Balio Gardens. This is the key moment. Arrive just before 19:10 to find a spot on the terraces. The gardens offer panoramic views over the countryside as the sun begins its descent toward the WNW. The shaded tables and Mediterranean plants create a peaceful backdrop for the evening light.
20:10
After the light fades, head back down for dinner. Return to La Prima Dea for a full meal. The restaurant serves traditional Erice recipes and seasonal specialities. The indoor and outdoor seating options are available, making it a comfortable choice as the evening cools.
Local tip
La Prima Dea is closed from 11 November to 20 December. If you are visiting during those dates, choose Ristorante Monte San Giuliano or Ristorante Caffé San Rocco for dinner, as their hours are more reliably open in the evening. Check the route for walking back down from the gardens.
