Arrive at the Mystery Face Picnic Area. Park and grab a coffee or snack to hold while you walk. The area is a parking spot with tables, so use it as your base.
19:27
Walk the Mystery Face Walking Track. This is a 2.6 km loop taking 1 to 1.5 hours. You do not need to complete the whole loop before the moment. Walk as far as you like towards the rock formations, keeping an eye out for birds and wildflowers if it is spring. Bring drinking water and wear appropriate footwear.
19:57
Find a spot along the track or at the edge of the picnic area that faces west-south-west. The sun sets in this direction on this date. Watch the golden light hit the rock formations as the light fades.
Local tip
Roads to the site can be boggy when wet. Check the route if you are driving. Bring binoculars for birdwatching.
