Timeline

  1. 14:26

    Zum Schießhaus

Grab a seat in the large Biergarten at Zum Schießhaus. Order a local beer and some food while the light is still bright enough to enjoy the green space behind the opera house.

  2. 15:26

    Fürstenzug

Walk 19 minutes ENE to the Fürstenzug. This is the world's largest porcelain painting. Arrive early to find a good spot along the wall where you can see the long procession of Saxon rulers.

  3. 16:26

    Fürstenzug

Watch the sunset. On 15 January the sun sets toward the WSW, casting a warm glow on the tiles. The golden light from 15:30 will have already started warming the scene, leading up to the final dip at 16:26.

  4. 17:11

    Grand Café & Restaurant Coselpalais

End the evening with a cake or coffee at Grand Café & Restaurant Coselpalais. It is located just 4 minutes walk from the mural and stays open until midnight, offering a quiet place to reflect on the view.

Local tip

The walk from the restaurant to the mural is a steady 19 minutes. If you prefer a quicker start, you can grab a drink at Paulaner's first, but Zum Schießhaus offers the best outdoor atmosphere for the pre-sunset hour.
