Timeline
15:26
Pick up an ice cream at Willy Vanilli. It is just a short walk from the Gläserne Manufaktur. Check that it is open; in winter it closes early, so if it is closed, try Chopsticks nearby instead.
15:51
Walk northwest to the Fürstenzug. The journey takes about 24 minutes through the city. This is the longest stretch, so keep moving to stay warm.
16:26
Stand before the Fürstenzug as the sun sets toward the WSW. The golden light hits the porcelain tiles, bringing the procession of Saxon rulers to life.

Augustiner an der Frauenkirche
End the evening at Augustiner an der Frauenkirche. It is only a 4-minute walk from the painting. Order a beer and some Bavarian or Saxon food to warm up after the chill outside.
Local tip
The walk from the factory to the Fürstenzug is the only long leg. If the ice cream shop is closed, Chopsticks is open until 19:00 and is very close to the starting point.
Check before you go
- Willy Vanilli is only open from April to September. If you are visiting in January, go to Chopsticks (open Mo-Sa 09:30-19:00) or Susi's Sportsbar (open 10:00-24:00) instead.
- Augustiner an der Frauenkirche is open daily until 24:00.
