Grab a quick drink at the bar just two minutes from the monument. It is open until 19:30 so you have time to settle in before the light changes.

    Monumento Pachacuteq

Walk up the cylindrical base of the Pachacuteq monument. The views are not spectacular from the top, but the climb is short and the location is central. The monument is open with the boleto turistico.

  3. 18:22

    Monumento Pachacuteq

Stand at the base or on the lower levels as the sun sets toward the WSW. The golden light starts around 17:52, casting a warm glow on the statue and the surrounding lower town.

  4. 18:52

    Quinta restaurant Tio José

End the evening back at the bar for a nightcap. The atmosphere is relaxed and it is only a two minute walk from the monument.

Local tip

The monument is in a lower part of town so the views are limited. Use the climb as a brief exercise rather than a vantage point. The bar is open late enough to stay after dark.

Check before you go

  • The monument requires the boleto turistico for admission.
  • The bar closes at 19:30 so do not linger too long after sunset if you plan to stay inside.
