Timeline
15:09
Grab a Tuttenburger or ice cream at Strandtutten. This kiosk serves the beachgoers at Amager Strand, so it is the perfect pre-sunset fuel. Check if they are open, as hours vary greatly.
15:34
Walk to Amager Strand. The beach is just a six-minute stroll from Kastrup Fort. Find a spot on the sand facing southwest. The sun sets directly behind Kastrup Fort during the late November and mid-January windows.
15:54
Watch the sunset. The sun dips below the horizon directly behind the historic fort outline. This alignment happens between 21 Nov and 27 Nov, and again from 14 Jan to 20 Jan.
16:24
Stroll back to Kastrup Fort. As the light fades, walk the three minutes from the beach area to the fort’s park. Explore the open part of the catacombs to see the bullet holes from WWII executions, or simply enjoy the quiet moat and walls in the twilight.
Local tip
The alignment is precise. Arrive early enough to secure a good view of the fort against the setting sun. The fort itself is open from 07:00 to 18:30, but the park access is generally flexible; check local signage for any evening restrictions.
