Timeline

  1. 11:00

    Gammel Holtegård

Take Bus 193 from Holte Station to the Gammel Holtegaard stop. Walk straight into the palace grounds. The gardens open at 11:00, so you will have the space to yourself. Stroll through the arcades and admire the fountains and embroidery parterre before the midday rush.

  2. 12:30

    Gammel Holtegård

Head inside the palace for an exhibition. The museum is open until 16:00 on weekdays and 17:00 on weekends. Use this time to explore the current art shows in a calm, air-conditioned environment.

  3. 13:30

    Gammel Holtegård

Finish your visit by walking back out into the garden. The late afternoon light is softer and perfect for photos of the baroque architecture. There are no shops or cafes on-site, so plan to grab a meal or coffee at Holte Station or in the town center after you leave.

Local tip

The palace is closed on Mondays. If you visit on a weekday, arrive exactly at 11:00 for the quietest experience. On weekends, it stays open until 17:00, giving you more time to linger in the garden.
