Timeline
16:09
Pick up a Kölsch at Brauhaus Gaffel. It is a beer hall right next to the cathedral that serves food too. The hours are Mo-Su 11:00-01:00 so it is open.
16:34
Walk 5 minutes to the back of the Kölner Dom and take the straight path to the Hohenzollern Bridge. This bridge is covered in padlocks. The sun is setting toward the WSW. The anchor is to the NE so you are looking away from it toward the river.
16:54
Stand on the Hohenzollern Bridge to watch the sunset at 16:54. The light is fading over the Rhine.
17:14
Walk 42 minutes west to the Cologne Sculpture Park. This is a major international overview of contemporary sculpture displayed in a large urban setting. It is a calm place to end the evening.
Local tip
The walk from the bridge to the sculpture park is long (42 minutes). If you prefer a shorter walk, stay near the bridge and explore the nearby Gaststätte Max Stark for Colognian cuisine. However, the sculpture park offers a distinct change of scenery after the busy bridge.
