Timeline
17:24
Start at Lommerzheim, a local pub near the Hohenzollern Bridge. Order a Reissdorf Kölsch and settle in for a relaxed pre-sunset drink. The pub is open until 24:00 on weekdays, so you have plenty of time.
18:19
Walk from the pub to the Hohenzollern Bridge. It is a short stroll from the central station area. Find a spot on the bridge railing facing west. The bridge is covered in padlocks, and the sun is setting toward the WSW, casting golden light on the Rhine and the distant cathedral.
19:09
After the light fades, head to Brauhaus FRÜH am Dom. It is a traditional Colognian restaurant right by the cathedral. Enjoy a late dinner with local flair. The restaurant is open until 23:00 on weekdays, which fits perfectly after the sunset.
Local tip
The walk from Lommerzheim to the bridge is about 10 minutes. The bridge can get crowded at sunset, so arrive early enough to claim a good spot near the railing.
