Walk into the Mata Nacional do Choupal. Head toward the eastern side of the park where the trees thin out slightly, giving you a clear view of the horizon. Find a bench or a quiet patch of grass facing west.

Bar da Mata Nacional do Choupal
Watch the sun dip below the horizon. The light turns the Mondego River and the tree branches a deep amber. This is the peak of the golden hour, with the sun setting toward the WSW.

End the evening with a meal at Retro. It is a regional restaurant located just a short walk from the viewing area, perfect for digesting the view with some local flavors.
Local tip
The path into the park is well-lit, but bring a light layer as it gets cooler near the river after sunset. Check the route for any temporary closures if you are coming from the train station.
