Timeline
18:20
Grab ice cream and people-watch at Dumbo. The family restaurant is packed with energy and dancers in animal suits, a lively start before the quiet of the plaza.
18:45
Walk to the Plaza 14 de Septiembre. Find the statue of La Cautiva, the sad girl hugging a flag and surrounded by chains. Stand facing west to see the light hit the bronze as the day fades.
19:20
Stroll 26 minutes east to see the Hippocrates statue. It is a quiet moment to reflect on the medical history of the city, far from the bustle of the main square.
Local tip
Dumbo is open until 23:00 on weekdays, so you can stay for dinner if the crowds don't scare you off. The walk to Hippocrates is short but takes you away from the main square's noise.
