Grab a warm drink and browse the eclectic collection at Arctic Trading Company. The wooden building is cozy, and you will see everything from local native artwork to a vintage polar bear suit from the 1950s.
09:15
Walk down Bernier St to the shore to see the Inukshuk. This stone cairn is the predominant symbol of the Canadian North. Arriving at 9 AM ensures you have the shore to yourself for photos before the day tours arrive.
09:45
Head to The Reef for a traditional breakfast or early lunch. The Seaport Hotel restaurant is quiet at this hour and serves excellent food. It is a bit touristy, but the quality is high and the atmosphere is relaxed.
10:30
End your morning with a focused look at local culture at Northern Images. This small shop specializes in Inuit and local paintings, photography, and sculpture. It is a short walk from the restaurant and perfect for a final, meaningful purchase.
