Timeline

  1. 14:27

    Lazy Bear Café

Grab a coffee and a sandwich at Lazy Bear Café. It is the only place in town with an espresso machine, making it the perfect warm-up before the cold evening air. The cosy interior offers a chance to settle in before the walk.

  2. 14:47

    Arctic Trading Company

Stroll past Arctic Trading Company to window-shop. The wild selection of local artwork and oddities makes for an interesting distraction before heading out to the water. The walk from the café is just a few minutes.

  3. 15:17

    Cape Merry

Walk to Cape Merry. The historic cannon battery sits at the northern tip of Churchill, past the port. The reconstructed stones and tundra ecosystem provide a stark, beautiful foreground. From here, you have a clear view across the river to the Prince of Wales Fort.

  4. 15:57

    Cape Merry

Watch the sun set toward the southwest. The light fades quickly in the north, so this is the moment to stand at the battery and look out over the bay and the fort as the day ends.

  5. 16:42

    Tundra Inn Pub & Lounge

End the evening with dinner at the Tundra Inn Pub & Lounge. The walk back is short, and the hearty menu offers a warm finish to the chilly sunset walk. The atmosphere is excellent for digesting the view.
