Timeline

  1. 15:24

    The Old Mill

Grab a sausage and chips or a coffee at The Old Mill. It opens at 09:00 on Sundays and 08:00 on weekdays, so you will have plenty of time to eat before heading out.

  2. 15:54

    Rollright Stones

Walk the two miles north to the Rollright Stones. Arrive thirty minutes before sunset to find a good spot on the grass. The late afternoon sun will be low, casting long shadows across the Neolithic circle.

  3. 16:24

    Rollright Stones

Watch the sun set toward the SW. The golden light fades quickly after 16:24, so enjoy the quiet atmosphere as the stones turn grey in the twilight.

  4. 16:54

    Blue Boar

End the evening with a drink at the Blue Boar. It is open until 23:00 on weekdays and 23:30 on weekends, giving you time to warm up after the cold evening air.

Local tip

The walk from The Common to the stones is about 2 miles. Wear sturdy shoes and bring a jacket, as it gets chilly near sunset in January.
