Timeline

  1. 15:29

    Cheshire Cobble Trailhead

Start at the Cheshire Cobble Trailhead. Park in the east lot near the junction with Windsor Rd. There are no food or drink shops in the immediate vicinity, so bring water and a snack with you. The trail is open, but check local conditions for any closures.

  2. 15:45

    The Cobbles

Walk the Cheshire Cobble Trail west uphill. The 16-minute hike leads to The Cobbles, a junction with the Appalachian Trail. Arrive here as the golden light begins to fade, positioning yourself to see Mt Greylock, Cheshire Lake, and the town below bathed in the final warm hues.

  3. 16:44

    The Cobbles

Watch the sunset. The sun sets toward the WSW, offering a direct view over the surrounding countryside. This is the peak moment of the experience. Stay for a few minutes to let the light shift, then begin your descent.

  4. 16:59

    Cheshire Cobble Trailhead

Walk back down the trail to the Cheshire Cobble Trailhead. The return walk takes roughly the same time. End your trip back at the east parking lot where you started.

Local tip
