Timeline

  1. 16:52

    Rembrandt's Coffee House

Grab a coffee and a pastry at Rembrandt's Coffee House. The Bluff View Art District is quiet in the late afternoon, making it a calm spot to settle in before the walk begins.

  2. 17:22

    Coffey's Cliff

Walk up to Coffey's Cliff. This is the 'World's Greatest Freight Train View Point.' Arriving thirty minutes before sunset gives you time to find a good spot on the railing and watch the light shift over the river and the trains below.

  3. 17:52

    Coffey's Cliff

Watch the sunset. The sun sets toward the west, offering a clear view of the sky changing color over the Tennessee Valley.

  4. 18:22

Reflection Riding Arboretum and Nature Center

End the evening at Reflection Riding Arboretum and Nature Center. The boardwalk through the wetland and lowland forest is peaceful after dark, and the admission allows you to stay as long as you like to digest the day.

Local tip

Check the route if you need to get from Rembrand's to the cliff, as the walk is short but involves an incline. The Reflection Riding Arboretum and Nature Center is open until 17:00, so for a sunset plan, you may need to check if evening access is available or adjust the timing to earlier in the year when sunset is later.

Check before you go

  • Rembrandt's Coffee House is open until 22:00 on weekdays and 23:30 on weekends.
  • Reflection Riding Arboretum and Nature Center closes at 17:00. For a sunset plan, verify if the arboretum offers evening hours or consider ending at a different location if sunset is after 17:00.
