Timeline
18:15
Buy a cold drink or light snack at The Pink Coconut Cancun. It is open until 19:00, so you have plenty of time before the golden hour begins.
18:45
Walk ten minutes to Laguna Nichupte. This park offers a calm, shaded spot to wait for the light to change.
19:00
Sit and watch the golden light wash over the lagoon. On 15 July the sun sets toward the WNW, casting a warm glow across the water just before it dips below the horizon at 19:31.
19:30
Stay a while longer as the light fades. The park remains peaceful after the main sunset crowd has passed.
Local tip
The walk from the shop to the park is short and easy. If you prefer to eat dinner after, Mikado is an 8-minute walk from Playa Ballenas, but it opens late at 17:30, so it is better suited for a post-sunset meal if you head there directly after the moment.
