Timeline
10:00
Walk through the main entrance and head straight to the lower level exhibits. The morning quiet allows you to absorb the battle dioramas and memorabilia without the usual midday rush.
10:45
Step out onto the front lawns or visit the on-site café for a coffee and a snack. The museum is open until 5 PM, but arriving at 10 AM gives you the best chance to secure a seat and enjoy the grounds while they are peaceful.
11:15
Walk five minutes south along Anzac Parade to the Kemal Atatürk Memorial. It stands directly opposite the War Memorial and offers a poignant, quieter perspective on the shared history of the region.
11:45
Continue five minutes further along the parade to the Hellenic Memorial. This spot honors the 6th Division's service and provides a final, reflective stop before you leave the area.
Local tip
The memorial shop opens at 10 AM, same as the museum, so you can pick up a book or memento right at the start. If you bring a picnic, the front lawns are the best spot, but the on-site café is reliable if you prefer to stay dry.
