    The Eagle

Grab a drink at The Eagle. This is the pub where Watson and Crick worked on DNA, and where American airmen burned their names into the roof during the war. It is a short walk from the start, giving you time to settle in before the main event.

  2. 15:31

    Parker's Piece

Walk to Parker's Piece. One of the best known open spaces in Cambridge, it is bordered by Park Terrace, Regent Terrace, Parkside and Gonville Place. It is a quiet, expansive green perfect for watching the day wind down.

  3. 16:16

    Parker's Piece

Watch the sun set toward the SW. The golden light starts about 15:17, leading into the sunset at 16:16. The open space offers unobstructed views of the sky changing colour over the city.

  4. 16:46

    Champion Of The Thames

End the evening at Champion Of The Thames. This old style pub in the centre of town features a blazing fireplace in the winter. It is one of the few pubs to sell a local cider rather than mass-produced stuff. Note that on a January weekday it opens at 16:00, so you will arrive just in time for the evening service.
