Grab a coffee or a pint at Kerb Kollective. It is just one minute from the Museum of Technology, so you can step out of the industrial past and into a quiet café. Check that it is open before you go, as it closes at 15:00 on weekdays.

Walk to the Museum of Technology. This old sewage pumping station on Riverside is the perfect vantage point. The exhibits of steam and gas powered pumps are fascinating, but the real draw is the riverside location. Arrive early to find a spot on the bank facing southwest, watching the sun dip below the trees.

Watch the sunset. The sun sets toward the SW at 16:16. The light will fade quickly, but the silhouette of the old pumps against the darkening sky is striking.

Botanic Garden of Cambridge University
Walk 39 minutes southwest to the Botanic Garden of Cambridge University. It is a relaxing way to spend the evening away from the hustle and bustle of the colleges. The garden is open to the public and offers a peaceful end to the afternoon.
17:16
End the night at De Luca Cucina & Bar. This Italian-British fusion restaurant is a 12-minute walk from the garden. The staff are great and the prices are reasonable. It is a comfortable place to sit down for a meal after the walk.
Local tip
The walk from the Museum to the Botanic Garden is long. If you prefer a shorter evening, skip the garden and head straight to De Luca from the Museum, but you will miss the transition from industrial light to garden calm.
